Massimiliano Patierno

Environmental Engineer

Massimiliano Patierno is an Environmental Engineer, having obtained his degree from Universitá La Sapienza in Rome.

He started working at IIDMA in 2015, focusing on issues related to energy transition and climate change, in particular the environmental performance of large combustion plants, ensuring their compliance with European environmental legislation. He has extensive experience in the Industrial Emissions Directive and Best Available Techniques Reference Documents (BREFs), as well as in the Air Quality Directive and soil pollution legislation, among others.

Prior to his experience at IIDMA, he collaborated in the European BioWALK4Biofuels Project, funded by the European Commission, whose objective was the development of an alternative and innovative system for the energy recovery of bio-waste and the use of greenhouse gas emissions to produce biofuels, using macroalgae as a catalyst.

Massimiliano has also completed specialisation courses in Energy Certification of Buildings and Occupational Risk Prevention and Protection.
